SSOP’s 2021 theme is #BuildtheNation: Capital raising and innovative financing to build critical energy and infrastructure projects. A decade after independence, South Sudan’s government has prioritized road-building, oil industry participation and power projects as means to stimulate the economy. Added to political changes in 2020 and the holding of the 2018 peace settlement, these developments promise to make a huge impact on the lives and fortunes of South Sudan’s businesses and people.
SSOP, now in its fourth edition, takes place as COVID-19 recedes and investors look again at opportunities across a wide spectrum of economic activity in the country. Roads under construction will soon connect the far reaches of the country and the government will re-launch its licensing round for exploration blocks. Finance, as in our third edition, remains top of the agenda, with serious funding challenges to overcome and innovation needed.
With a wide coalition of government partners including the ministries of petroleum, energy and dams, and trade and industry, as well as national oil company Nilepet, Africa Oil & Power is working with the private and public sectors to drive a business-friendly narrative in South Sudan. Join us for the nation’s official energy event, meet the leaders and establish your place in this emerging market.
