Maersk Drilling Awarded One-well Contract Offshore Egypt
Maersk Drilling has signed a one-well drilling contract worth $3.8 million for the Maersk Discoverer, offshore Egypt.
The Maersk Discoverer is a DSS-21 column stabilised dynamically positioned semisubmersible drilling rig, able to operate in water depths up to 10,000 ft.
The new contract is a continuation of an existing contract in Egypt and will last 21 days, beginning in March, using the semi-submersible rig Maersk Discoverer to carry out operations. Once completed, the rig will perform its scheduled Special Periodic Survey and then move to Trinidad and Tobago.
“We’re pleased to add this additional well, which firms up Maersk Discoverer’s schedule for 2020, meaning that the rig will have no idle time before moving to the Caribbean later this year,” said Maersk Drilling COO, Morten Kelstrup.
The Maersk Discoverer was delivered in 2009 and is a DSS-21 self-propelled A1 column-stabilized, dynamically positioned deep-water rig.
