Danish catalysis company Haldor Topsoe and South African energy and chemical company Sasol have signed a collaboration agreement to jointly license their respective gas-to-liquids (GTL) technologies. Previously, the two companies worked together on several GTL projects and technologies, which were licensed to numerous global GTL ventures.

In addition to offering GTL technologies, the agreement sees the provision of Topsoe’s hydroprocessing and hydrogen technologies. The Sasol-Topsoe partnership will offer customers medium-to-large GTL solutions in an effort to meet growing global demand for efficient solutions that monetize natural gas reserves.

“Together, Sasol and Topsoe now offer customers complete and proven end-to-end GTL solutions. This is unique and extremely valuable for customers seeking bankable GTL solutions for monetizing abundant natural gas reserves,” said Topsoe’s Deputy CEO, Amy Hebert.

Furthermore, the collaboration agreement designates Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) firm TechnipFMC to provide licensor engineering support and facilitate front-end engineering design and EPC work.

“Sasol and Haldor Topsoe’s technology relationship spans more than 20 years, through which we have successfully commercialized several advanced technologies,” said Marius Brand, Acting EVP Technology of Sasol. “We are delighted to enter into this collaboration arrangement, and with the support of TechnipFMC, we are able to offer the best GTL technology to the market.”
