Senegal: Ministry of Petroleum and Energy increases budget

With the rising potential of Senegal’s oil exploration, Minister of Petroleum and Energy, H.E Mansour Elimane Kane announced a budget increase for the sector.

As the West African nation works to develop its petroleum sector, its allocated budget will increase from c. $202 875 268,19 million to $246580271,85 million in 2019.

According to reports, the petroleum and energy ministry is expected to find a balance between the exploitation of energy and the desire or commitment of the state to management the country’s resources properly.

Last month, Minister Kane met with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama to enlist Nigeria’s assistance as the country develops its petroleum sector.

“As you know, we just discovered a lot of oil and gas and we would want to take advantage of the experience from Nigeria,” the minister said.
